On this episode of All Gas No Brakes, we start a 2-part journey to explore the origin story of living with physical disability. Did our Neanderthal ancestors care for their disabled, or were these individuals cast aside to die a painful death? What about individuals living with physical disability during ancient Greece and Rome? Were these poor newborn souls even allowed to survive when it was clear they'd been 'cursed' by the gods? How much did the social and political standing of the family impact the life outcome of the disabled during these times? Listeners might be surprised at the answer to some of these questions.
