Rebecca Rubin, the founder of Disability Support Solutions, LLC, provides us with an overview of her services. Prior to starting Disability Support Solutions, Rebecca worked for service providers in Montgomery County, MD; serving the developmentally disabled population. Through her services, she realized how much unmet need parents had for answers and guidance - which led her to start her company.
Rebecca takes a collaborative approach with other professionals, like attorneys and financial advisors, to help her clients access the appropriate supports through Maryland's Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDA). This help comes in the form of working with families to complete applications, talking through what they're entitled to, applying for transitioning youth funding, and, in some cases, looking for services for a child with a mental health diagnosis.
Rebecca is very involved, she doesn't want to bounce her clients to another website or service if she can help it. She offers everyone a free 15 - 30 minute phone call to "triage" their situation and determines if it makes sense to work together. Rebecca's preference when working with her clients is to meet face-to-face, or given current Covid restrictions, use a virtual consultation. These meetings will be charged for, Rebecca is a "fee for services"; she doesn't work off a retainer.
Disability Support Solutions, LLC, is looking to expand its suite of services in the Fall of 2020 (dependent on the current health situation). The new services offered will be advocacy for adults receiving services. A Disability Support Solutions staff member will visit with individuals receiving services in their Day and Residential program at least once per month and report back to the individual's legal guardian and/or Trustee with an overview of how things are going and a checklist of what if anything needs to be addressed.
