010: Surviving Suicide and Thriving Beyond a Diagnosis with T-Kea Blackman
Manage episode 241239180 series 2434472
On Today’s episode I got to sit and have a conversation with my amazing friend TKea Blackman. T-Kea is a suicide survivor with a powerful testimony of recovery and redemption alongside faith and has been using her voice to advocate for mental health. She’s also the creator and host of the fireflies podcast, which is dedicated to bringing light into the darkness, much like fireflies. As you’ll soon hear, her story is truly a testament to living beyond a diagnosis, the possibilities of recovery and the ability to thrive despite a long standing battle with mental illness.
Whether you’re someone faced with a diagnosis or you’re wanting to better understand those around you who may be facing a mental crisis, you’ll want to listen to this whole conversation. Now I do want to give a disclaimer and warning that there is content surrounding suicidality that may be sensitive to some, so please listen at your discretion. However I believe this will be a resource that is far more powerful. Right now we just entered the month of September, which is actually World Suicide Prevention Month, and while I totally didn’t plan for this, I couldn’t think of a better time to share this conversation with you all.
