Traci Callahan is a graduate of Concordia University, Irvine, where she was named Female Athlete of the Year (2009), the culmination of a career that saw her be recognized in 2005 as the NCAA Freshman of the Year before becoming a 1st team All-American 3 straight seasons (2006-2009). Then, in 2012, she started playing on the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) tour.
Then, in 2015, she walked away ... But come four years and a life-changing trip along the Camino de Santiago (a.k.a. the Way of St. James), one of the most famous treks in the world, she returned and hasn't looked back since. Now back on the AVP tour, she is also training for the 2024 Olympics while also having a stake in Red & Louie's Pizza, a restaurant she is vested in with her husband (also a former athlete), Matthew.
On this episode of A Tight 45, Traci joins Tabari to chat about the challenges of staying focused as an athlete in a pandemic, the charity organization Chasing Gold, Chicago pizza, hiking 500 miles in Europe, quitting and coming back to the sport she loves, bikini fits ...
